JOCK'S COUNTRY

Over the five decades that he appeared in newspapers, books and calendars, Jock became a much loved New Zealand farming character and something of an icon to rural and urban New Zealanders alike.

David Henshaw himself was a similar much-loved character and his cartoons, sketches and paintings celebrate New Zealand country life and the pople who live and work the land. This is a collection of some of his best work over the years.

David Henshaw was a long-term resident of Tamahere, but spent much of his earlier life travelling the length and breadth of New Zealand. This proed to be a rich source of material for his cartoons. In 2011, he became an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services as a cartoonist. David died in 2014, but his work - both cartoons and paintings - will live on, and Jock's wry humour and commentary on rural life will remain relevant for many years to come.
